Dubai Car Rental FAQs
Got Questions? We’ve Got Answers.
Planning to rent a car in Dubai? Our FAQ section highlights the key details — from daily and monthly rental options to driver requirements and insurance coverage. Find the answers you need before you hit the road.
What are the requirements to rent a car in Dubai?
For tourists, you need a valid passport, a visit visa stamp, and a valid international driving permit (IDP) from your home country. Residents need their Emirates ID and a valid UAE driver’s license. All drivers must be over 21 years old.
Is a deposit required, and how is it handled?
Yes, a refundable security deposit is required to cover potential fines or damages. The deposit is blocked on your credit card and is typically released within 21–30 days after the rental ends, pending no traffic violations or damage.
What does the rental price include?
Our prices include standard comprehensive insurance, VAT, and a generous mileage allowance. Fuel, tolls (Salik/Darb), and traffic fines are the responsibility of the renter. We offer additional insurance and services for a complete peace of mind.
Can I drive a rental car outside of Dubai?
Yes, you can. You can drive a Next Ride car to other emirates like Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, or Ras Al Khaimah. However, driving to other countries is strictly prohibited.
How do I pay for my car rental?
We accept all major credit and debit cards, and we also offer cash payments for certain bookings. For your security, a credit card is required for the refundable deposit.
Is fuel included in the rental price?
No, fuel is not included. The vehicle will be provided with a set fuel level at the time of rental, and it should be returned with the same level. If the fuel level is lower upon return, a refueling charge will apply.
What is the process for renting a car at Dubai Airport?
We offer convenient car rental Dubai airport services. Once you book, our representative will meet you at the airport arrivals hall to complete the paperwork and hand over the keys, ensuring a smooth start to your journey.
Can I add a second driver to my rental?
Yes, you can. An additional driver can be added to the rental agreement for a small fee. The second driver must meet all the same age and license requirements.
What is a “Salik” toll and how does it work?
Salik is Dubai’s automated road toll system. Each time you pass through a Salik gate or a Salik monitored parking, a toll is deducted electronically. We will track your Salik usage and charge the total amount at the end of your rental period.
What happens if I get a traffic fine in a rental car?
Traffic fines in the UAE are automatically registered against the car’s license plate. We will notify you of the fine and process the payment from your security deposit or credit card.
What happens if the car breaks down or I have an accident?
If you experience a breakdown or accident, simply contact Next Ride directly. Our team will assist you right away by guiding you through the next steps, arranging recovery if needed, and helping with replacement options so your journey can continue with minimal disruption.
