Weekend Car Rental in Dubai: Friday to Sunday Prices and Tips

A weekend car rental in Dubai from Friday to Sunday costs from AED 300 with Next Ride: three days in a Suzuki Baleno 2025 at AED 100 a day, delivered free to your door with comprehensive insurance included. A Saturday and Sunday rental starts at AED 200. Below you will find weekend prices for every car in our fleet, when a weekly rental works out cheaper, and how to get the most out of a weekend on the road.

What counts as the weekend in Dubai?

The UAE moved its official weekend to Saturday and Sunday in January 2022, with Friday becoming a half day for government offices and schools (Executive Traveller). Private companies can set their own working week, so many people finish early on Friday or have it off altogether. That is why most weekend rentals here run either Friday to Sunday or Saturday to Sunday.

When a weekly rental is cheaper than a long weekend

If your weekend stretches into a short break, check the weekly price before you book. A weekly rental saves up to 17% on the daily rate, and for most of our cars it becomes the cheaper option at around six days.

Ideas for a weekend with a rental car

A car opens up places that are awkward to reach by taxi or metro. Our guide to day trips from Dubai by car covers the most popular drives in detail. A few weekend favourites:

  • Abu Dhabi for the museums and the corniche, then back the same evening
  • Hatta for the dam and the mountain scenery, best enjoyed in the cooler months
  • The east coast around Fujairah for snorkelling and quieter beaches
  • Ras Al Khaimah for Jebel Jais and a resort night away
  • Around Dubai: an early beach morning, a desert sunset drive and dinner across town without counting taxi fares

You can drive your Next Ride car to all seven emirates. The car must stay inside the UAE, so trips to Oman or other countries are not allowed.

Weekend driving tips for Dubai

Salik tolls are lower on Sundays

From Monday to Saturday, Salik charges AED 6.30 per gate at peak times (6am to 10am and 4pm to 8pm) and AED 4.20 at other times, with free crossings from 1am to 6am. On Sundays there is a flat AED 4.20 charge (Gulf News, June 2026). Every Next Ride car has a Salik tag, so you never need to stop at a gate.

Public parking is free on Sundays

Public paid parking run by Parkin is free all day on Sundays and official public holidays, and every night from 10pm to 8am (Gulf News). Saturday is a normal paid day, so keep paying as usual. Private car parks in malls, hotels and places such as Palm Jumeirah have their own rules, so always check the signs.

Plan around Friday and Saturday evenings

  • Beach roads, malls and popular restaurants get busy on Friday and Saturday evenings, so leave extra time
  • Book early for long weekends and public holidays, when demand for rental cars rises
  • For a day trip, set off early in the morning to enjoy cooler temperatures and lighter traffic
